Manson Blair
Manson Blair was born near Ballyclare, County Antrim in 1947. From early school days he displayed an avid interest in art and drawing. After attending Stranmillis College from 1965-68 he took up a teaching career and is currently the vice principal of a local Primary School. He has also taught an adult art class in oil and watercolour painting since 1980. He began to paint seriously in the early 1970`s and displayed a liking for the traditional Irish Landscape particularly the rugged mountain, coast and lake views of the West of Ireland and many parts of the Co Antrim coast. His work is influenced by the work of past Irish landscape painters such as J H Craig, Frank McKelvey, Paul Henry and Maurice C Wilks. For his subject matter he travels widely in Co Mayo, Galway and Donegal. His paintings capture the Irish landscape in all its beauty and grandeur.
